Dr. Koyama joined the Institute of Energy Economics in Japan (IEEJ) in 1986 as Economist in the Oil Group. He is now Director and Board member, Strategy and Industry Research Unit. Dr. Koyama has held many senior positions in IEEJ, including Senior Research Fellow at the Energy strategy Unit, general manager of Energy Strategy department, and an honorary associate, Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy, University of Dundee. He has extensive publications in the area of energy economics and the world oil and gas market, for example “Perspectives on Asian Oil Demand: Outlook and Uncertainties”, “Energy Supply-Demand and Challenges in Asia” and “Energy Policies in Asia”. Dr. Koyama obtained his Ph.D from the University of Dundee, Scotland, and his BA and MA from the Waseda University, Japan.

He also plays a role as a member of International Advisory Board, Energy Academy Europe (Netherlands) and International Advisor (Chair in Energy Economics) at Energy Commission of Tenaga National University (Malaysia).
