GerWeiss Station Inc.

Finalist 2016

In the Philippines, traditional gas-powered tricycles are the most common public utility transportation and also the biggest source of air pollution, worse than jeepneys and buses.

GerWeiss Motors Corporation is led by its founder Gerard Volloria, who has been manufacturing electric vehicles since 2008. Gerweiss developed an advanced ecosystem of electric trikes that run on batteries with zero emissions.

The GerWeiss etrike ecosystem was designed to ensure that transportation is sustainable, affordable, efficient, viable, safe, and comfortable for the riding public. GerWeiss’s ultimate goal is to replace the more than 3.5 million traditional gas-powered tricycles in the Philippines with the electric etrike version. In addition to a modern battery management system, they will add GPS tracking which will allow each etrike to be tracked and monitored for efficient energy use.
