KPIT Technologies Limited

Finalist 2016

India is fighting a constant battle against air pollution as it depends mostly on non-renewable sources of energy for public transportation. KPIT is working to combat this problem by developing electric hybrid conversion solutions for cars and buses. A single bus when converted to the electric bus using this system results in saving 15,000 litres of diesel and 48 tons of CO2 emissions annually. When installed on a mass scale, it is capable of reducing dependence on fossil fuels for transportation considerably. In addition, replacing diesel buses can help reduce costs for these operators and help them to earn a profit.

KPIT aims to demonstrate a low-cost approach to low-carbon transport in cities, and its ingenuously developed non plugin hybrid electric solution for buses is considered to be a ground breaking technology for urban transportation in India.
